“Twende World Cup Sasa,” Good News to Kenyans as FIFA Lifts the Suspension of FKF

Kenya was banned by the World Football governing body, FIFA after the President of FKF and his team were thrown out of office by the past regime. A committee was formed by the former Cabinet Secretary of Sport. This angered FIFA and Kenya was given a ban due to government interference with the football affairs.

Kenyans received some good news after the ban was lifted. A letter from the Secretary General of FIFA, Fatma Samoura which was addressed to Mr. Barry Otieno who is the Secretary General of FKF and dated 28/11/2022 showed that Kenya is off the hook.

The subject of the letter was Lifting of the suspension of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF). The letter stated that they received the letter that was sent to them earlier that stated that the new Cabinet Secretary of Sports honorable Ababu Namwamba had reinstated the ousted FKF officials and all of them had returned back to their elective duties.

It also stated that according to that letter, the Bureau of the Council decided on 25/11/2022 to lift the suspension and a FIFA-CAF mission will be deployed to Nairobi in order to define the next steps that FKF needs to take and put in place.

The FIFA-CAF mission will also meet honorable Ababu Namwamba who is the Cabinet Secretary of Sports and chat a way forward. The letter also stated that the lifting of the suspension takes place without prejudice to the investigations that are ongoing at the National level and also the court cases that are still active.
