He was given the chance but the Arsenal players were shocked at his performance. They were particularly shocked that a goalkeeper of his caliber after positioning himself outside his box, still wanted to catch the ball outside the box when the shot was fired at him.
If at all, Neto could have caught the ball, Arsenal could have been in the worst scenario because he could have been sent off with a straight red card. The fans questioned if he did not know that, it is an offence to catch the ball outside the box despite the fact that he is a goalkeeper.
This could have meant that, Arsenal could have been beaten and the club could have finished out of the top 8. This could have made Arsenal to go for another extra game in the playoffs so that it can qualify for the round of 16.
The Arsenal fans were also shocked if Neto was playing as a centre back or as a goalkeeper. They said that his positioning was very poor and he could have caused Arsenal a lot of goals if not for the defence that was shielding him.
The fans said that, they now know very well why David Raya plays almost all games. They also said that, if anything can happen to David Raya now, then Arsenal is doomed because his number one backup is nowhere close to his level.
The fans urged Mikel Arteta never to risk him again because he can give the Arsenal fans heart attack because of his lack of confidence and his worrying skills and abilities.
