Arsenal met Manchester City in the 2023 Community shield. The two Managers named very strong squads for that encounter. This was a clear indication that all the two teams wanted nothing but a win in the game.
Mikel Arteta’s squad had Aaron Ramsdale in the goalpost, Jurien Timber, Gabriel, William Saliba and Ben White. The midfield had Declan Rice, Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard. The forward line had Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka.
Pep Guardiola also named a very strong squad for that encounter. The goalpost had Stefan Ortega. The defence had Kyle Walker, John Stones, Ruben Dias and Manuel Akanji. The midfield had Rodri and Mateo Kovacic while the forward line had Jack Grealish, Bernardo Silva, Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland.
The game was a tight one and Arsenal did not lose hope even after going 1-0 down after Cole Palmer’s goal. The team showed a spitited fight until the end of the game. Leandro Trossard who was brought in in the second half in place of Gabriel Martinelli forced the two teams to go for post match penalties in order to determine the winner of the game.
Arsenal’s penalty takers, Martin Odegaard, Leandro Trossard, Bukayo Saka and Fabio Vieira all scored their penalties while only Bernardo Silva scored for Manchester City. Kevin De Bruyne hit the cross bar while Rodri’s penalty was saved by Aaron Ramsdale.
Arsenal lifted the Community Shiled and this sent a warning to other Premier League rivals that this coming season will be a hot one and all teams should get prepared because the Arsenal players will go for nothing but the Premier League Title.
