Arsenal hosted Aston Villa in yet another game of the English Premier League. Arsenal went into the team as a wounded lion because the club lost William Saliba to a small knock prior to the match.
This latest injury forced Mikel Arteta to adjust his squad with the available players who he has currently. Jurrien Timber was forced to go into the centre back position while Thomas Partey was slotted back to hold the right back position.
The first half started on a very high note and the Arsenal players kept on pressing. They eventually got a breakthrough after Leandro Trossard gave Gabriel Martinelli a good pass that led to the first goal. The first half ended 1-0 in favor of Arsenal.
Arsenal started the second half in a good note and Leandro Trossard again gave an assist to Kai Havertz and the German international player scored the second goal. Things however turnd sour for the Gunners after Youri Tielemans pulled one goal back for Aston Villa.
Youri Tieleman’s goal really elevated the spirits of the Aston Villa players. The goal took them back to the game and they started pressing on for more and more. They finally got the equalizer through their talisman Ollie Watkins.
The 2-2 draw has mathematically affected Arsenal in a big way in their quest for the Premier League title. This is because their greatest rivals, Liverpool had secured a great win against Brentford. The League leaders scored two late goals through their super sub, Darwin Nunez.
The game ended in a 2-2 draw and this now means that, Liverpool is now ahead of Arsenal with 6 points and a game in hand. This has greatly complicated the mathematics of Mikel Arteta.
The take home in this game is that, Arsenal need to do something during this transfer season and bring in another centre forward who can help the club by scoring goals.
