The latest news reaching us is that, Aston Villa was really willing to sell Ollie Watkins to Arsenal but the Gunners were not willing to match their valuation of a Prime Ollie Watkins at £60. Arsenal valued him at £40.
Arsenal were clearly not willing to continue with the discussions. They were also not willing to increase anything or even talk about the payment structure. The door was clearly opened for Arsenal to negotiate the deal for Ollie Watkins but Arsenal proved to be very stubborn.

Ollie Watkins himself had said some time earlier that his boyhood club has always been Arsenal and he had also hinted that he cannot rule out playing for the Gunners at one stage of his life.
If Arsenal could have continued with the push or even negotiate further, then Ollie Watkins himself could have done something and he could have forced a move. In this case, it was even difficult to force a move because Arsenal were not willing to negotiate with Aston Villa at all.
It is Arsenal that left the negotiations and that is how Ollie Watkins remained at the club. Unai Emery must have also accepted the fact that he was going to sell Ollie Watkins and that is why he went ahead and brought Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United.
It is now very clear that Arsenal can only go for a striker in the summer. It would have however been very nice if the club could have bought a clinical striker who could have really helped Arsenal in chasing their dream for the Premier League title and the Champions League title.
It is now upon the forward players that Arsenal has to prove that they can win something for the Gunners. This has however not happened in the past two seasons because the striking department needs reinforcement. Kai Havertz cannot do the work alone as the main striker that Arsenal depends on because Gabriel Jesus is out for the entire season.
