Written by Gareth Southgate has finally named his final squad for the EURO 2024 games and after axing, James Madisson, he has also axed Harry Maguire who has a calf injury and Jack Grealish who was informed that he will not be part of the squad.
The following are the luck players who have made the cut:
Goalkeepers
Dean Henderson, Jordan Pickford and Aaron Ramsdale. Jordan Pickford is the undisputed England number one and it is very obvious that he will keep his position.
Defenders
Lewis Dunk, Joe Gomez, Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, Luke Shaw, John Stones, Kieran Trippier and Kyle Walker. This is another department that will have another competition but there are also able back up players who can fill those positions.
We are however waiting to see who will be paired alongside John Stones at the heart of the central defence and how they will perform. Another worrying player who has been picked is Luke Shaw whose level of fitness is questionable because he has not played football for quite some time now.
Midfielders
Trent Alexander Arnold, Conor Gallagher, Kobbie Mainoo, Declan Rice and Adam Wharton. Gareth Southgate has decided to use Trent Alexander Arnold as a midfielder after realizing that he is a utility player and can play in different positions.
Forwards
Jude Bellingham, Jarrod Bowen, Eberechi Eze, Phil Foden, Anthony Gordon, Harry Kane, Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka, Ivan toney and Ollie Watkins.
This is the defence that is star loaded and the forward line is looking really great with sharp players who all had good seasons with their parent clubs. The only thing that may disappoint them is the defence because it is not looking very convincing by the look of things.
If Gareth Southgate will pair the forward players well according to their strengths and abilities, they will then have a very wonderful campaign and they will score a lot of goals.
