Court Nullifies Appointment of Anthony Mwaura as Chairman of KRA, Terms Appointment Irregular and Unconstitutional

The High Court of Kenya has nullified the appointment of Anthony Mwaura as the Chairman of the Kenya Revenue Authority. The Court has cited that his appointment was not in accordance with the Constitution of Kenya.

According to Judge Gikonyo, Anthony Mwaura was appointed by President William Ruto yet he had some corruption case of about 357 million shillings. He added that the President still went ahead and gave him that plum job despite the fact that he knew that he had a graft case.

This now means that the position is vacant and with the current happenings in the government, he will probably be replaced by another person since President William Ruto seeks to form a broad based government of National Unity.

The Country is currently going through a transformation that was initiated by the Gen Z who have been calling for changes. They stated that they started with the National government and it will trickle down even to the County Governments.

Anthony Mwaura was also appointed as the UDA National Elections Board Chair some time back this year. This raised a lot of questions especially from the opposition. They stated that a Public Servant should not serve the interests of a political party because a public servant needs to be bi-partisan.

The ruling of the Court comes just days after President William Ruto said that he will make some radical changes in his government. Some of the most hit were the Cabinet Secretaries who were shown the door last week after giving in to the pressure that Gen Z had piled on him.

The Gen Z told President William Ruto that he should not even think of reshuffling his Cabinet. They put it clear that what they needed was a complete overhaul so that technocrats cab be given those jobs and not politicians.
