The deputy President, honorable Rigathi Gachagua admitted and revealed that he almost fell out with President William Ruto when they were selecting Cabinet Secretary nominees for various Ministry in the Kenya Kwanza government.
According to him, he was surprised that the Head of State nominated honorable Alfred Mutua as the Cabinet Secretary nominee for Foreign Affairs and honorable Peninah Malonza as the Cabinet Secretary nominee for Toursim and Wildlife.
The deputy President stated that he asked the President why he gave those leaders those slots yet they did not bring much votes to the Kenya Kwanza camp. Most of the people from that region voted for the Azimio La Umoja flag bearer, honorable Raila Odinga.
On his side, President William Ruto told honorable Rigathi Gachagua that he gave them those slots because the people of Ukambani love him and it is their leaders who are leading them astray. He also added that he will stay with them until they love him.
Previously they had also wooed honorable Kalonzo Musyoka to join them but they don’t know what is wrong with him. The deputy President said that they were together at Uhuru Gardens for the Mashujaa Day celebrations but they were surprised when they saw him in Homabay county again with other Azimio leaders.
The President also said that he told honorable Kalonzo Musyoka to join them in the government but he said that he is still comfortable in the opposition because they want to keep President Ruto’s government on check.
