It has been alleged that, barely, four months after receiving assistance from Kenyans to get back on his feet, former Citizen TV journalist Kimani Mbugua has returned to drug use.
Before his career ended in 2020, the 27-year-old man was famous for his comedic way to hosting a segment called “broken news” Citizen TV.
He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2021, which worsened over time due to his drug usage, and he abandoned his work at the height of his career.
He had a rocky history with rehabilitation, but he announced his full recovery and readiness to resume life in September of this year. He implored the Kenyan people for financial assistance so he could launch an enterprise he said would revolutionize his life.
He was able to pay for his project and get housing thanks to generous Kenyans who came through for him.
But according to a video that Kimani recently uploaded to Instagram, it is alleged that he has resumed drug use.
His speech is garbled and he laughs as he talks to himself on the video. His speech shifted from praising nature to criticizing those who give him money, asserting that he was self-sufficient.
Continuing, he said that the desire to regain fame is illogical for someone accustomed to suffering in silence.
He stated stuff like, “We are live finally, my kind of TV,” which I will paraphrase. The ulinitumia pesa turns around. No matter how hard you try, you will never be able to overcome. Your money is unnecessary for me. Defining life. What could possibly motivate you, Kimani, to return to fame if you were quietly suffering? Why don’t you turn around and send me the money again? How dare you believe you aided me.
