Written by The Senator of Kisii county, honorable Richard Onyonka has finally cut ties with his ally and the Governor of Kisii county, honorable Simba Arati. This is after the Senator was locked out of employing his preffered people in the Kisii county Cabinet.
According to honorable Onyonka, honorable Simba Arati had gone against the pre-election pact that was to award him a whooping 25% of the jobs in the county government. He said this on Saturday in a consultative meeting. He also revealed that the subsequent meetings that they had in order to solve the matter did not bear any fruits.
The Senator said that there has never been a vicious fight in Kisii politics than what they had in 2022. According to him, it was him and Simba Arati versus them. His only worry was if Simba Arati was going to maintain the promises that he made.
According to the Senator, there were several people who could have won that seat, but he chose to support him and stick with him. He added that during the campaigns he told the Governor that he should hold consultative meetings as part of his leadership, but he went ahead and picked the Cabinet without consultations and they are no longer begging, but need a stake in his government.
He also said that it is not a must that the Governor should consult him. He also said that he warned him of parading the County government workers at the Gusii stadium but he did not give him a listening ear. This has resulted to the civil servants being against the Governor and their morale to deliver has also gone low.
The Senator also revealed that he has not been talking to the Governor for weeks now. According to him, they must have a leadership that is honest because close to 400 staff will be retiring in the next one year and they should be replaced.
