How Chelsea Suffered This Season’s First 1-0 Premier League Loss Against Manchester City

Chelsea met Manchester City in another game of the English Premier League. This was a very tough match because it was between the European Champions and the Premier League Champions. Thomas Tuchel named a very strong squad for that encounter. Edouard Mendy was brought back in the goal after Kepa Arrizabalaga’s fine performance in the previous week.

He had a very packed midfield with his three best midfielders. Ngolo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic all featured in the game. He also unveiled a new forward partnership of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner. He used a 3-5-2 formation which did not work very well for him. Reece James and Marcos Alonso were also put to play as the wingbacks.

Pep Guardiola also named a very strong squad for that encounter. He used a 4-2-3-1 formation that really worked well for him. His forward line was very effective because it had Jack Grealish, Kevin De Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus and Phil Foden. The first half was fully packed and all the two teams tried their best in order to get a goal.

Reece James got injured even before the half an hour mark. This forced the Manager to take him off. He was replaced by Thiago Silva. The first half ended in a barren draw. The second half started on a high note and the defending Premier League Champions scored a goal. Manchester City got the opening goal through Gabriel Jesus. He was assisted by Joao Cancelo.

Thomas Tuchel made some changes in order to get good results. He made the changes in the midfield which looked dead. Ngolo Kante was removed and he was replaced by Kai Havertz. Jorginho was also removed and Ruben Loftus Cheek took his position. The player performed very well and he gave the Manager all the reasons to consider him in the upcoming matches.

Pep Guardiola also strengthened his team with some changes, Kevin De Bruyne was rested and his place was taken by Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden also gave way for Fernandinho while Jack Grealish gave way for Raheem Sterling. The game ended 1-0 in favor of Manchester City.
