There was a looming purge in Parliament that was to immediately follow after honorable Rigathi Gachagua was impeached. The ruling coalition wanted to weed out the legislators who were deemed to be showing sympathy to the former Deputy President.
The goal of the purge was to remove the Legislators from their powerful Parliamentary Committee Positions. Some of the vocal members of Parliament who were going to lose their powerful seats are like the Kiharu Member of Parliament, honorable Ndindi Nyoro.
Honorable Ndindi Nyoro was going to be ejected from his position as the Chairman of the powerful Budget and Appropriations Committee. He was going to be replaced by the Member of Parliament of Molo Constituency, honorable Kimani Kuria.
The Parliamentary purge will nolonger continue because of honorable Rigathi Gachagua’s factor. Sources from the government have indicated that, if the purge will go on, then things may not boil out nicely.
This may cause some great rift and several politicians may disagree with it. The plan therefore, is to just leave the allies of the Deputy President because the government wants more members on its side and not against them.
This will help the government to push its agenda smoothly in the National Assembly without much opposition. It should also be noted that, the government is currently enjoying the support of the opposition courtesy of the broad-based government between President William Ruto and honorable Raila Odinga’s political sides.
Some of the politicians from the ODM side were already gearing up for some of the Parliamentary Committee positions that were going to be left vacant by the allies of honorable Rigathi Gachagua.
