How Harambee Stars Thrashed Malawi 4-0 in the Four Nations Tournament

Harambee Stars met Malawi who are the host of the four Nations Tournament. Coach Engin Firat named a very strong squad and it was very evident that he wanted nothing but a win in that game.

This is how the squad looked like the goalkeeper was Patrick Matasi, the defenders were Johnstone Omurwa, Joseph Okumu, Daniel Anyembe and Vincent Mahiga. The midfield had Anthony Akumu, Richard Odada and Chrispine Erambo. The forward line had Rooney Onyango, Ayub Timbe and Michael Olunga.

The players were well composed and Michael Olunga led the team from the front. He scored the first goal of the game after just one minute. He was given a super pass by Daniel Anyembe who was equally very good in the game.

Three minutes later, the super captain added the second goal for Harambee Stars through a penalty kick. The Malawi players tried their best to get back to the game but the Kenyan defense was too strong for them. The first half ended 2-0 in favor of Harambee Stars.

The second half started on a very high note and all the two teams were on the run looking for goals. Malawi got a penalty after one of their players was brought down in the Harambee Stars box. It was a debatable penalty because he was obviously offside.

Patrick Matasi saved the penalty and he became the hero for that time. The penalty was saved at the 70th minute. Ayub Timbe added the third goal for Harambee Stars at the 82nd minute. This shattered the dreams of the Malawi players of launching a successful comeback.

John Avire who was a super substitute, proved to the coach what he can do and he sunk the Malawi team by scoring a thunderous goal in the 93rd minute. The game ended 4-0 in favor of Harambee Stars and they will now meet Zimbabwe in the finals of the Four Nations Tournament.
