Many People Feared Missing as Heavy Floods Sweep Away Cars at Night in Mai-Mahiu

Many people are reported to be missing after a very bad ordeal that happened in Mai-Mahiu at 3am on Monday morning. This is after flood waters swept away numerous vehicles that were using that route.

It was reported that the floods were unleashed after the Kijabe river breached its banks and started overflowing due to the raging floods caused by the heavy rains that are being witnessed in different parts of the country.

Search operations have been intensified and the operation is still ongoing. They are searching for the occupants of the vehicles which were swept by the floods and also villagers who were also swept away by the floods.

The road has also been paralyzed and it has been blocked since there is no transportation services that is going on. A good example is the Easy Coach bus that has got stuck between falling trees hence hampering its movement.

The raging floods has even forced the Ministry of Education to postponed the reopening of Primary and Secondary schools across the country which was to commence today. The Ministry stated that they have assessed the situation and realized that it is not worth to risk the lives of student.

The floods have so far claimed several lives in different parts of the country. It is our hope that the people who were swept away by water in Mai-Mahiu will be found alive. People should also strain from travelling if it is not necessary because it is currently not the best time to travel because there are new developments each and every time as far as the floods are concerned.
