Written by Mikel Arteta has finally identified the problem that Gabriel Martinelli has been having that has made him to drop drastically in his performance for Arsenal this season.
The Manager has stated that, the player has not been performing as expected because he lacs people around him. This is because he is always being isolated so much by his teammates. Most of the time, the ball is always being played in Bukayo Saka’s wing and hence isolating the Brazilian.
He said that, Gabriel Martinelli needs to be always in the last line when the ball is on his side. He also added that he is a real threat when he has people by his side because he is so intuitive. He also said that, isolating him just means that the club will suffer.
Gabriel Martinelli is a very good player and he can be very lethal when he is adequately supplied with the ball. He should play next to captain fantastic, Martin Odegaard so that he can have some share of the ball and increase his chances of contributing to the club.
Once the Arsenal players will learn that they need to engage Gabriel Martinelli more, then the other clubs will be confused to know the wing that they should mark properly. As it stands now, Bukayo Saka’s wing is already marked and the defenders know very well that, if they mark him well, then Arsenal will have very minimal chances of creating meaningful attacks.
Gabriel Martinelli should also refrain from too much dribbling because it is not helping him a lot. He should either score goals or create chances for other players to score the goals. He will however find again his footing that he has lost and Arsenal will go back again to firing many goals from his wing as it has been the norm in the other Premier League seasons.
