The Ministry of Education has made another major and latest announcement in regards to the reopening of schools next week. This has just been made amid the raging floods that have rocked many places in the country.
The Cabinet Secretary of Education, Professor Ezekiel Machogu has made it clear that the reopening of schools is still scheduled for next week as earlier planned.
He however said that they will continue to assess the situation and they will give directions appropriately with all the latest developments. He assured the Nation and the parents that the Ministry of Education will issue systematic information as far as the floods are concerned.
The Cabinet Secretary of Education Professor Ezekiel Machogu had earlier on stated that the reopening of schools will depend on how they will assess the situation of the floods. This has now changed and he seems to be reading from a different script because he has now clearly stated that the schools will be reopened as earlier planned.
The country has been hit with floods and many families have so far been displaced. Some areas are even inaccessible and it has even forced the residents of such areas to flee from their homes.
Some of the hard hit areas are like the Mathare area in Nairobi County. Houses have been submerged and some people have not even managed to rescue some of their belongings. Some schools have also been hit hard with the floods and it is still not very clear whether those schools will resume learning next week.
