The following are the Newspaper headlines for Monday 31st October 2022.
Daily Nation
The Newspaper talks of the acid test for honorable Raila Odinga. The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition’s exit clause will come to an end next week. There is a possibility that there are some politicians or parties that may exit the coalition and either join the government or look for other options.
The coalition has not yet set clear it’s path for the 2027 upcoming General elections. The coalition’s flag bearer has also hinted that he is still strong meaning that he can still try his luck for the sixth time.
The Newspaper also talks of some of the key allies of President William Ruto who are still in the cold. Some of them are honorable Muthama, Cleophas Malala, Hassan Sarai and Caleb Kositany among others.
The Star
The Newspaper talks of President Ruto’s sentiments that the former President’s were humbled by defeat and they are living in shame and humiliation because they tried to overturn the will of the people.
Governor Gladys Wanga and Kidero fights over Raila’s name. The Governor of Homabay County, honorable Gladys Wanga has asked the court to remove the name of Raila Odinga from the affidavit that has been tabled by her petitioner honorable Evans Kidero.
EACC states that members of Parliament are hiring their spouses, children and even close family members in the constituency and the county. To add on that, they are also using some of the buildings that they own as their offices and at the same time pocketing millions of shillings as rent.
The Standard
Unions oppose President Ruto’s move to hit the salaried staff and have them pay more taxes. It also talks of the jitters in Mount Kenya over the future of Azimio.
