Written by President William Ruto got a shocker after Western leaders named the politician that they will support in the coming elections of 2027.
The former Governor of Kakamega County honorable Wycliffe Oparanya said that they will rally behind one politician as the Azimio brigade now that their leader honorable Raila Odinga will leave local politics and join the African Union as the Chairperson of the Commission.
He said that the Western region will rally behind their two sons that is him and the the DAP-K party leader honorable Eugene Wamalwa. He also added that another powerful politician that they will rally behind is honorable Kalonzo Musyoka.
The Western region has predominantly been an Azimio La Umoja stronghold and if honorable Kalonzo Musyoka can inherit that fan base from honorable Raila Odinga, then he will have a very good bargaining power.
The declaration by honorable Wycliffe Oparanya that they will rally behind honorable Kalonzo Musyoka is a clear indication that they have seen potential in him and he is the one that they want to front as a coalition so that he can counter President William Ruto.
President William Ruto on the other hand has also been courting the Western region and he was also there over the Weekend. He was in Bungoma County. He has also tried his best to woe the people of that region to support him by nominatiing them to some plum positions in the government.
The Western region also played a major role in President William Ruto’s success in the 2022 general elections because he got a significant chunk of votes from that region and it finally helped him in the final tally.
The President should now be ready for another battle as stated by honorable Wycliffe Oparanya that he will have to square it out with honorable Kalonzo Musyoka.
