The Orange Democratic Movement agreed to form a government of National Unity with President William Ruto and this was depicted when the President said that he congratulates the political class who were ready to be consulted in order to form the government of National Unity.
President William Ruto read the names of the additional Cabinet Secretaries who he nominated to his Cabinet. The ODM party reaped big because out of the new nominees, the ODM party got four slots.
Nominated Member of Parliament, John Mbadi was nominated as the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury, the former Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho was nominated as the Cabinet Secretary for Mining and Blue Economy.
The former Governor of Kakamega county, honorable Wycliffe Oparanya was named as the Cabinet Secretary of Cooperatives and MSMES while the minority leader in the National Assembly, honorable Opiyo Wandayi was named as the Cabinet Secretary of Energy and Petroleum.
The ODM party leader honorable Raila Odinga had given some ultimatum to President William Ruto for his party to work closely with the government. He has been having a soft spot because he is also a candidate for the African Union Commission and he to behave like a Statesman and not watch his country to go into the drains.
The nomination of the four ODM leaders will surely spur some politics within the larger Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition. It should be noted that the other affiliated parts in the coalition like the Wiper party, the Jubilee party, DAP-K and the Roots party stated very clearly that they will not be part of the Kenya Kwanza government and they will not cleanse it.
This may also mark the end of the opposition because the top leaders have joined the government and this means that it will be very tough for the party to criticize the Kenya Kwanza Administration since it is now a broad based government.
