Kenyans received another shocking news after a 36-year-old man lost his life in a grisly road accident that happened along the Nairobi-Namanga highway in Athi River which is found in Machakos County.
The man was identified as Silvester Mutinda Muinde and he died on the spot after being run over by a trailer at the Athi River Bridge which is found near the Shell Petrol Station.
This accident came with its own challenges and it caused a very heavy traffic jam that lasted for close to two hours. Motorists started looking for alternative routes but the bodaboda operates went ahead and blocked the highway at the bridge.
They did this in order to wait for the police officers to arrive and contain the situation. The police officers arrived and the Athi River Sub-County Commander confirmed the accident and he said that the motor vehicle was being driven towards Namanga.
Silvester Mutinda Muinde was knocked down when he was trying to cross the road from the left side to the right side. He got some fractures on the skull and the lower abdomen and it was very hard for him to survive that painful ordeal.
Silvester Mutinda Muinde died on the spot and his body was taken to Shalom Community Hospital mortuary as it awaits postmortem to be conducted.
Accidents have been very rampant of late in the roads and both the drivers and the pedestrians should be very vigilant so that they also help in saving lives that are being lost in the roads every now and then.
