Written by Kenyans received some bad news after a lorry and an oil tanker were involved in a road accident that led to several deaths. This happened in Busia County. The bus that was involved in the accident is the one known as Tahmeed Bus.
Witnesses revealed that the tanker was transporting fuel and it allegedly collided with a passenger bus leaving several casualties. The bus was on its route heading to Mombasa from Busia. The accident happened at Mundika area.
The petrol tanker was heading to Uganda. In another rather sad incident, the driver of the tanker burnt beyond recognition while the driver of the bus lost both his legs and he was rushed to the nearby medical centre which is the Busia County Referral Hospital in order to receive some medical attention.
He was taken to the hospital alongside other casualties of which five are said to have sustained some minor injuries while other two were in a very critical condition.
An eye witness said that the driver of the bus was trying to avoid colliding with another oncoming vehicle which was a probox. He said the probox was being driven in a zigzag manner. The bus driver therefore had to take the wrong lane so that he avoid hitting the probox.
His calculations were however wrong because the oil tanker was also in a very high speed and that is how they collided. Several people are feared dead and this is indeed some sad news being that today is just the first day of the month of March.
