Written by Raila Odinga’s bid to contest for the Chairperson of the African Commission means that he will have to leave local politics as he starts a new journey. He is expected to leave a successor in the Luo Nyanza region where he has been the Kingpin for a long term now and where he enjoys overwhelming and massive support.
Reports indicate how there might be a looming showdown in that succession as two family members from Raila’s home that is his wife Ida Odinga and his elder brother Senator Oburu Odinga appeared to have endorsed two different politicians to succeed the ODM party leader.
Mama Ida Odinga hinted that Raila Odinga may settle for nominated member of Parliament honorable John Mbadi. She hinted that Mbadi has gotten all the trainings that he needs and he is capable of leading people when Raila exits the stage.
She termed the vocal legislator as the heartbeat of Raila Amollo Odinga. Mama Ida Odinga also said that Kenyans should not panic at all because the former Prime Minister will not be the first Kenyan who has gone to seek job abroad.
She added that the ODM party leader has men and women who are ready to take the mantle from him. She added that the foot soldiers of Raila Odinga are very many and therefore nobody should panic because the former Prime Minister has groomed very able politicians who can still fight for the rights of the people.
On the other end, Oburu Odinga hinted that the Minority leader in the National Assembly, honorable Opiyo Wandayi is the one who is well placed to replace Raila Odinga because he is a political student of the former Prime Minister.
He also noted that the Minority Leader in the National Assembly has mastered the body language of Raila Odinga very well and he knows how to act according to the interests of the ODM party leader. Above all, Opiyo Wandayi has learnt his political skills from Raila Odinga.
