South Africa Results Start Streaming in as President Cyril Ramaphosa Takes an Early Lead, Julius Malema Trails

The results of the concluded South African General elections have started streaming in and the trend according to the results that have streamed in so far are showing that the ruling African National Congress that is led by President Cyril Ramaphosa is currently leading.

According to the results, the ruling African National Congress has so far garnered 43% of the total votes that have been so far garnered. The second coalition is which is the Democratic Alliance has 26% is led by John Steenhuisen while Julius Malema is in the third position with his Economic Freedom Fighters Coalition.

The fourth coalition is the uMkhonto weSizwe which is led by the former President of South Africa, honorable Jacob Zuma.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will however have need to have some coalition partners for him to retain his seat if he will fall below the required percentage. The African National Congress has been in power since 1994 and this year’s election has been a very tight and tough one in their ruling years. The Coalition has ruled and it has had over 5 Presidents over the years it has been in power.

The trend will however shift with time because the current results only reflect about 14% of the total votes that have so far been counted.

The earliest that final results will be relayed to the public is Sunday, 2nd June 2024. This is according to the Independent Election Commission of South Africa.

This was the most contest election in the South African election history because it was contested by 52 parties.

Many people thought that the vocal Julius Malema would triumph over his competitors but they have been shocked because he is really trailing behind them. They however said that the counting is still going on and it is still very early to determine who will win the election.
