Sada remembers returning home to find her father asleep on the floor. She tries to check his pulse but discovers that he has passed away, at which point she begins yelling. Major rushes over and accuses her of murdering their father. He then grabs his father’s fimbo and chases after her. Back in the present, Major and Sada are exchanging angry looks.
Dida says that Maria is someone who has been with her father and she was just trying to find out information from the ominous man she spotted her with after taking a closer look at a drawing of Maria on her mother’s phone. Dida comments that she recognizes her, Fatima urges her to try to recall where she saw her, and Dida recalls running into Maria, whom she insulted. Dida questions whether Maria is the same person she ran into despite Fatima describing her as a girl who loves to speak sheng’.
Zuu is afraid to return to Mwanzele’s home since she hasn’t forgotten about his betrayal, but Bi Salama argues that she should because they would eventually need to go there and talk about the situation. She brings to memory the time when she proudly presented Mwanzele to them as her one and only true love. Zuu tries to exploit Sultana’s condition as justification for staying put, but Bi Salama is adamant that she should leave.
When Sada gets there, she remembers when she had an abortion and her father called, but she asked Bi. Salama to pick it up because she was afraid to speak to him. Salama tried to persuade her that he would understand her since he is her father, but Sada asks Major not to try and put the blame on her because they all know who is the main culprit. She also asks him how their father got into that state.
Sada is informed by Major that she had a duty to take care of their father while he was serving his country in the military but chose to leave instead.
Bi, Salama begs Sultana to never consider suicide again because she now has a being relying on her, and advises her to find Zuu or Kaka and talk to them if she feels overburdened. She offers her complete freedom to do whatever she wants as long as it is right, even choosing to get married to Kokan or JJ or choosing to give the kid to her to raise however she will be willing.
While moving around his home, Kokan, who is deep in meditation, is startled by JJ’s knock at the door.
Sada, who is crying, is asked whether she has been looking for JJ as Dida enters his room in search of him. Sada replies that she has and adds that JJ needs her more than ever with everything going on in the family, which makes Dida happy.
PART 2 OF THE SULTANA MONDAY, JANUARY 9TH, 2023 EPISODE WRITTEN UPDATE
Sultana’s mother asks her where she is going when she is all ready to leave and replies that she has listened to all her mother has said, so she will be back early. Bi. Salama requests that she return quickly because they are expecting guests and she needs to be there to meet them.
Sada searches through the books and papers in the drawer for images of her father. When she finds one of him with a friend, she exhales with relief.
When Kokan asks JJ what he wants and opens the door for him, JJ requests that he answer his questions since he needed them answered. When he inquires as to who provided the funds to cover Sultana’s dowry, the man boastfully replies that Major did. JJ assures Kokan that paternity tests are always accurate despite his conviction that the child is not his. Kokan apologizes and tells him that he was only making a fool of himself. He also reminds him that one’s wife is a no-go area and that it was he who persuaded Sultana to file for divorce. JJ then punches Kokan after boasting to him that, despite their lack of a blood relationship, he was Major’s firstborn son.
As Sada is about to leave Major’s residence, he stops her and commands her to grab her possessions. Sada laughs hysterically, signaling that she is not leaving and that he has plenty of time to do as he pleases. Fatima applauds him for being severe and gives him encouragement as soon as Sada is free to leave the house on her own volition.
As Kokan and JJ continue to argue, Kokan annoys JJ by joking that he’ll name their child Major, which causes JJ to attack and choke Kokan. Fortunately for Kokan, other locals arrive to intervene and stop the fight.
When Zuu gets home, she discovers four elderly men waiting there. She urges them to be patient since she would give them their money back, but they tell her there is no need because the debt has been paid. When Mwanzele emerges, he hands the men some cash and instructs one of them to get a paper and pen so they may sign it to show that the debt has been paid. Mwanzele then tells the puzzled Zuu to provide the document to him. He assists her in unloading her luggage while grinning broadly, and he then brings everything to the house.
Kokan replies that he is aware that Major merely wants to use him, but he couldn’t resist free money, despite JJ’s advice to him not to make deals with the devil. JJ continues by saying that when Major learns that he was among those that attacked his home, he will shortly exact his fury.
Sultana exhales in relief as she arrives at an unnamed location.
