Part 1 of a written update for the episode airing on SULTANA on January 17, 2023.
Kaka visits Bi. Salama’s and runs into Maria on her way home; he confronts her about why she has been hanging around the house despite his warnings. Maria explains that she had to leave because of an emergency, and that Sultana is quite ill. When they enter, they see that Bi. Salama is already there, sitting next to Sultana. She gives Maria some pills to take and sends her off to get some water for Sultana, at which point Maria begs her mother to let her get some rest. Kaka says he’ll stay with her, but Maria wonders why he would when he’s the one who’s been asked to go. Upon hearing that Kaka wants to take care of his sister, Bi. Salama accepts the situation. After some uncomfortable interaction between the two, Maria finally decides to depart.
JJ rushes to check on his mother and calls his father’s behaviour as barbaric. Upon discovering Fatima happily imbibing, he concludes that his aunt was correct in her assessment that she was only in it for the cash. Fatima gives JJ the evil eye, thinking to herself that Ua deserves pain and that now is her turn to rule.
Kaka urges Sultana to get up and continue the task, but she declines, explaining that she isn’t feeling well. Kaka goes outside, only to have Bi. Salama listening in, causing him to get anxious.
JJ tends to his mother’s wounds and reassures her that he will always be there for her, but he has a few questions he’d like answered first.
In Bi. Salama’s mind, Kaka and Sultana must be concealing something, so she begs him to explain their conversation. Maria comes out, and Kaka gives her the cold shoulder while telling Bi. Salama the secret is between them and shouldn’t be shared. Bi.Salama presses him to tell her whether he is confident in his ability to conceal the information.
As soon as Fatima sees JJ helping his mom, she makes a phone call to Major to report that she’s home alone and terrified because JJ and Ua are up to no good. The mere sight of JJ in his home is enough to set him off. While Dida’s mother, Fatima, tries to explain that now is their time, Dida confronts her by asking if she is to blame for Ua’s confinement in the kennel and Sada’s expulsion from the home. She tells her that she has Major in the palm of her hand and that he will provide for Dida and them in a way that Buya couldn’t, but she forbids Dida to bring up her father because she isn’t doing anything to help find him. Dida informs her that, all along, JJ was correct in characterizing her as a manipulative, self-absorbed egomaniac who doesn’t care if anyone else lives or dies. It’s up to Fatima to think about what JJ has said about her.
Kaka wonders to himself where he will bury the body despite the fact that it is broad daylight.
Bi. Salama is worried because Sultana didn’t share anything personal with her. When Maria inquires as to Kokan’s character, she tells him that he’s “just some man” and that she’s already told Sultana that the baby is not Kokan’s. Kokan feels ashamed to visit her now. To this end, she has decided to seek Kaka’s assistance.
Major confronts JJ for coming into his house although he feels that he shouldn’t expect any support from him while outside since everyone is aware of what he did to Kokan but JJ isn’t shaken and he walks out on his father which shocks Major. Fatima encourages Major to calm down and offers him a seat and massages his back as she attempts to enquire from him what JJ has done to Kokan, Dida watches them from the balcony and she gets very enraged. Fatima tries to urge Major to cut off JJ totally from the family as he has demonstrated time and again that he is a betrayer, this throws Major by surprise and he explains to Fatima that he just said he would not support him out of anger and despite it all, he is still his son. She attempts to persuade him and tries to insist that JJ said that he doesn’t identify him as his father. He calls out for Asiya to bring him some water but Fatima speaks ill of her saying she left the house very early and she hadn’t come back and it seems like she is tired of her job and she offers to go get Major the glass of water but to her surprise, Asiya comes with a tray with some water in a jug and she serves it to Major.
Maria tries to engage Sultana in a dialogue expecting she would open up to her about what is going on between her and Kaka but Sultana denies it. Maria adds that Kaka believes that the main cause of the pandemonium was brought about after Sultana went to the hospital and found out the baby wasn’t Kokan’s but it is not the reason why she fell sick. Sultana asks her what she is trying to suggest. Maria informs her that they are aware she doesn’t love Kokan and if the baby isn’t his she should be joyful yet she is upset.
Fatima scolds Asiya for being a liar as she left the house without alerting her and they start slinging words at each other but Major stops them claiming he has so much going on. He asks Asiya where she was when he came in but Asiya requests to speak to him quietly and Fatima is left looking at her.
