Arsenal visited Brighton & Hove Albion in their final game of the year 2022. The club went into the game while knowing that Manchester City had drawn 1-1 with Everton and a win in that game would take the club 7 points clear off the defending Champions.
The first half started on a very high note and it only took Bukayo Saka only 65 seconds to score the opening goal of the game. Martin Odegaard then doubled the score before half time. The first half ended 2-0 in favor of Arsenal.
The second half was packed with activities and Arsenal still showed that they wanted nothing but a win in that game. Eddie Nketiah netted the third goal for the Gunners and this spiced up things.
Brighton players were brought back into the game after Pascal Gross gave Kaoru Mitoma a brilliant pass and he pulled one goal back. This gave the players the belief that they could still pull a comeback in the game.
Martin Odegaard played very well as the captain of the side and he gave Gabriel Martinelli another good pass that helped the Gunners to open wide their margin. He scored a brilliant fourth goal.
Evan Ferguson also added the second goal for Brighton and this made the game to e very interesting. It even forced Mikel Arteta to reinforce the defence and he substituted Martin Odegaard and replaced him with Rob Holding.
This made Arsenal to resort to a back five. Mitoma scored another goal but the VAR ruled it out for an offside position. The game ended 4-2 in favor of Arsenal. The club is now 7 points clear ahead of their closest competitors, Manchester City.
