Manchester United hosted Manchester City at Old Trafford for a Manchester Derby. This was a very entertaining game and the two Managers named very strong squads for that encounter. The first half was a very tough one and the two teams went for the break when the score line was 0-0.
Erik ten Hag acted quickly and substituted Anthony Martial at the start of the second half. He replaced him with Antony. Martial was not very lethal in the first half and therefore his substitution was understandable because he was not posing a lot of threat to the Manchester City defence.
Pep Guardiola also made an early change and took off Phil Foden and replaced him with Jack Grealish. This was the only substitution that Manchester City did. The substitute rewarded the Manager handsomely by putting the club ahead.
He got a brilliant pass from Kevin De Bruyne and he opened the score line. This made the game more interesting. This made Erik ten Hag to make another change in his forward line which was looking blunt.
He sacrificed Christian Eriksen and replaced him with Alejandro Garnacho. The young player changed the game and his introduction gave the Red Devils some confident while going forward. Casemiro played a pass which was meant to reach Marcus Rashford but the England international player did not touch it because he was in an offside position.
He left the ball for Bruno Fernandes who came from behind and scored a super goal. Moments later after that equalizer, Alejandro Gernacho gave Marcus Rashford a through pass and he scored the winning goal of the game.
The Manchester United Manager had to do all things in order to get all the three points and safeguard his lead. He rested Marcus Rashford and replaced him with Harry Maguire, Casemiro with Scott McTominay and Tyrell Malacia with Lisandro Martinez.
The game ended 2-1 and Manchester United collected all the three points. The club is now in position three, with 38 points, 1 point behind Manchester City which has 39 points.
