The Mount Kenya region has become very slippery for President William Ruto ever since the impeachment motion of his former Deputy, honorable Rigathi Gachagua was brought forth. Things have now turned from bad to worse after the impeachment was successful and he was replaced by Professor Kithure Kindiki.
The latest incident was the cold reception that he got in Embu over the weekend. He was not welcomed with the aura as always. The residents of Embu also seemed not to agree with him when he told them the strides that his government has so far made in terms of the Universal Health Coverage through SHA and the affordable housing.
The Head of State did not find a conducive environment to convince the residents of Embu of the good things that his Administration is doing.
The former Deputy President, honorable Rigathi Gachagua did not get the chance to speak but when his name was mentioned, the crowd went wild despite the fact that he did not stand to talk to the people.
Political analysts have stated that, it is like President William Ruto has lost the Mount Kenya region because of the honorable Rigathi Gachagua factor. The residents feel betrayed because majority of them followed honorable Rigathi Gachagua and he is the one who convinced them to join the train of President William Ruto despite the fact that there were other people who were also seeking the same seat.
He mobilized people from the grass root level and they are indebted to him. They feel that they too have been betrayed and their votes that they cast have also been betrayed.
The political analysts have said that, President William Ruto now needs to come up with new strategies that he will use to woe the people again and even get their support in the coming general elections.
