Arsenal played in a closed door friendly game with Queens Park Rangers. The game was played at the TSG Elite Training Centre. Only two first team players were involved in that game and that is Thomas Partey and Takehiro Tomiyasu who were given some minutes to regain their fitness.
Thomas Partey and Takehiro Tomiyasu were part of an Arsenal team that unfortunately got hammered 4-0 by QPR in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Thursday.
The two players have had their season disrupted with injuries and they have not been very regular in Arsenal’s quest for the Premier League title this season. Thomas Partey is the player who has not been part of this journey because his season has been very rough.
Takehiro Tomiyasu has played some role this season and his brilliance made the club to extend his contract. This means that he is part of Mikel Arteta’s plans because of his versatility nature since he can play in more than one position.
It is believed that the two players were given the opportunity because they will be greatly used in the remaining games of the English Premier League and the Champions League. Mikel Arteta’s side are top of the Premier League table and there are only few games that are remaining before the end of the season. The team is head of their arch rivals, Liverpool and Manchester City.
Arsenal’s starting 11 that started the defeat against QPR had mostly the under 21 players and the squad had the following players: Ejeheri, Nicholas, Robinson, Foran, Tomiyasu, Partey, Lewis-Skelly, Gower, Cozir-Duberry, Butler-Oyedeji and Kamara.
Takehiro Tomiyasu played a total of 45 minutes while Thomas Partey played 60 minutes. This was enough time for them to regain some fitness ahead of the busy schedule after the international break.
The goals of QPR were scored by Michael Frey who scored two goals and Elijah Dixon-Bonner and Ziyad Larkeche all added one goal each.
Many first team players were not involved in the game because they are away on international duty and the others who did not report on international duty were not given the opportunity because they are fit since they have been playing regularly.
