How Arsenal Unceremoniously Bowed out of the Champions League After 1-0 Loss to Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich hosted Arsenal in their second leg game of the UEFA Champions League after the 2-2 draw at the Emirates stadium last week. Mikel Arteta made a tactical change and brought in Takehiro Tomiyasu at left back at the expense of Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The Gunners started the game very well and they really controlled the ball in the first half. Bayern Munich also had a good display and the two teams had a 50/50 ball possession. The first half ended in a 0-0 draw.

The second half started on a very high note and the Bayern Munich players showed the beast in them. Thomas Tuchel also reminded Arsenal that he is a very experienced Manager when it comes to the Champions League because he had won the trophy during his spell at Chelsea as a Manager with the other two Arsenal players like Kai Havertz and Jorginho.

Arsenal’s hopes were dwindled by Joshua Kimmich’s bullet header after getting a good pass from Raphael Guerreiro that left David Raya wondering what hit his net. Mikel Arteta tried to react to that goal and he made some changes.

He substituted Gabriel Martinelli and replaced him with Leandro Trossard, Jorginho with Gabriel and Takehiro Tomiyasu with Eddie Nketiah. They tried their best but they did not lift their club to glory.

Thomas Tuchel only made two changes, he substituted Noussair Mazraoui and replaced him with Kim Min-jae and Leroy Sane and replaced him with Dayot Upamecano. These were defensive changes and it worked in his favor.

The game ended 1-0 in favor of Bayern Munich and 3-2 on aggregate. Arsenal therefore had no otherwise but to unceremoniously bow out of the Champions League.
