Arsenal met Everton in their rescheduled match on 1st May 2023. This was a very tough match and Mikel Arteta decided to use the same squad that he used to beat Leicester City over the weekend. Leandro Trossard maintained his position as the false centre forward as Jorginho kept his position in the midfield.
The game started on a very high note and the Everton players were really defending well. They subjected the Arsenal players to using aerial balls which was not the game plan of Mikel Arteta. The players got the connection towards the end of the first half.
Oleksandr Zinchenko gave Bukayo Saka a brilliant pass and the England international player slotted in a very good goal. Bukayo Saka again got involved and he gave Gabriel Martinelli another brilliant pass that led to the second goal.
The first half ended 2-0 in favor of the Gunners. This was something to smile about while heading to the break. The two teams made quick successive changes in order to make an impact. Mikel Arteta rested Jorginho and replaced him with Thomas Partey. Sean Dyche also substituted Idrissa Gueye and replaced him with Mason Holgate.
Arsenal got two more goals from Martin Odegaard who got a brilliant pass from Leandro Trossard who was also very phenomenal in the game. Mikel Arteta further made some more changes and he tested his squad depth.
Oleksandr Zinchenko was substituted and his place was taken by Kieran Tierney, Granit Xhaxa with Fabio Vieira, Leandro Trossard with Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka with Emile Smith Rowe.
Eddie Nketiah also made his impact in the game because he is the one who gave Gabriel Martinelli the pass that led to the fourth goal. The game ended 4-0 in favor of Arsenal. The club is now 5 points ahead of Manchester City.
