Arteta Confirms Mikel Merino’s Injury Before Kicking a Ball

Mikel has confirmed that the new signing Mikel Merino will miss tomorrow’s game against Brighton. He stated that, he got a shoulder injury and he will be out for a few weeks.

Mikel Arteta revealed that Mikel Merino got injured in training and after falling down, Gabriel Magalhaes landed awkwardly on him hence making him to get the fracture.

Mikel Merino was in so much pain but the medical team assessed his situation and he is now stable as he recovers. Many Arsenal fans were hoping that, they would see Mikel Merino make his debut against Brighton.

They will now wait a little longer. The good thing is that the midfield is still very strong because Thomas Partey is available. He has always been a very key figure for the Gunners whenever he is fully fit.

Mikel Merino’s injury is not a very big issue for Arsenal because there are many alternatives in that position including Jorginho.

Mikel Merino will add very many things to Arsenal when he fully recovers, he will add more squad depth into Arsenal’s midfield. Mikel Arteta now has a whole pool of players to choose from. Thomas Partey is still available and all Arsenal fans know how good he is when he is fully fit.

Jorginho too is still present and he is a leader too. Mikel Arteta will now have the best partnership for Declan Rice and he will not be overworked again like he was overworked last season.

Mikel Merino also has his own personal qualities that will supplement to what Arsenal has. He has good ball possession and excellent skills.

Mikel Merino will also make sure that there is a lot of squad rotation especially in the midfield. This will give all the midfielders a chance to showcase what they have and give their best.

Mikel Merino’s signing will also promote positive competition because all the midfielders will be working hard so that they can all get a chance in the first team.

Rival fans have however laughed at Arsenal for purchasing a player who has already been injured even before playing his first game for the Gunners.
