Big Blow for Agriculture CS, Mithika Linturi as MPs Chant ‘Linturi Must Go,’ 149 of Them Vote for his Impeachment

The embattled Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, honorable Mithika Linturi got another major blow after his impeachment motion was tabled in Parliament for debate. Majority of the Members of Parliament were dissatisfied with his services.

Many Members of Parliament started chanting “Linturi Must Go” and it seemed that they had decided that they were impeaching him without showing him any mercy.

Some of the Members of Parliament also told their colleagues that if they vote against the Bill to impeach honorable Mithika Linturi, then they should also prepare themselves to go home in 2027 because they are voting on behalf of the Kenyans who elected them.

The Legislators were given the opportunity to vote and 149 of them voted for the removal of honorable Mithika Linturi from his position as the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture. 36 Members of Parliament Voted NO while 3 abstained.

A committee that comprises of 11 Members will be formed to investigate the charges that were brought against honorable Mithika Linturi and table their findings in the next 10 days for the final voting on the Bill.

The motion to impeach honorable Mithika Linturi was filed by the Member of Parliament of Bumula Constituency honorable Jack Wanami Wamboka. Honorable Mithika Linturi is facing charges in regards to the fake fertilizer scandal that has been seen and witnessed in his Ministry under his watch.

It is still not known whether he will survive the impeachment given that may Members of Parliament want him out of his docket as the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development.
