The Chief Government Pathologist, Dr. Johansen Oduor has finally revealed what led to the world Marathon record holder, Kelvin Kiptum’s death. This is after conducting a postmortem in order to get the root cause of that death.
He stated that the World Marathon record holder had very severe head injuries with very severe skull fractures. He also revealed that the Spinal cord of Kelvin Kiptum had intruded into the cranial cavity and this might have been caused by the fractures that he got.
The Chief government pathologist also added that there were rib fractures to on both sides. He further stated that the lungs too were injured. He also noted that they took some more samples for further analysis which is known as toxicological analysis in order to ascertain if there could be other causes of that death.
The postmortem was conducted on Wednesday 21st February 2024 and the family representatives were also there to witness everything. They said that they were satisfied with the process because they were there from the start to the end of that exercise.
They however said that they are also still anticipating to know exactly what the other results will be after conducting the toxicological analysis. The family members also stated that the contractors promised them that they will finish the house and it will be officially handed over to Kelvin Kiptum’s widow after the burial.
They also said that security lights have also been fitted in the compound and they had also talked to the Kenya Power and Lighting Company and they promised to put streets lights for Kelvin Kiptum’s villagers.
The family also confirmed that all preparations are underway and they have invited everybody who can make it to the burial that will take place on Friday. The body will be ferried from the morgue on Thursday before the Friday burial.
