How Arsenal and Liverpool Squared Things at 1-1 to Keep Pace at the Top

Two giant clubs met in the Premier League to determine the giant who was going to celebrate the Christmas season on top of the Premier League table. There were very high stakes for the game between Arsenal and Liverpool.

Liverpool hosted Arsenal at Anfield in another thrilling match of the English Premier League. Liverpool was at home and it was expected that the game was really going to be tough. The game started on a very high note and Arsenal got the first goal just after four minutes. Martin Odegaard gave Gabriel Magalhaes a good pass and the defender headed it in.

Liverpool equalized the goal through Mohamed Salah who got the pass from Trent Alexander Arnold. The first half ended 1-1and they were all prepared for the second half. The Managers must have had a good talk with their players because all of them needed a win.

The second half started on a very high note and all the players from both teams showed that they needed a win. Liverpool players were very aggressive but they were stopped by the Arsenal defenders.

Martin Odegaard handled the ball in Arsenal’s penalty area and the Liverpool players pleaded for a penalty but they were not given. The VAR ruled that the Arsenal captain slipped and it was not his intention to hold the ball using his hands.

The game had a lot of hard tackles and the referee gave out very many yellow cards. Arsenal received 5 yellow cards and they were issued to some key and crucial players like Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, Declan Rice, Eddie Nketiah and Ben White. Liverpool received two yellow cards for Wataru Endo and Mohamed Salah.

Jurgen Klopp made some changes in his squad, he substituted Kostas Tsimikas and replaced him with Joe Gomez, Cody Gakpo with Darwin Nunez, Curtis Jones with Ryan Gravenberch and Luis Diaz with Harvey Elliot.

Mikel Arteta also made some changes in his squad. He substituted Gabriel Martinelli and replaced him with Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus with Eddie Nketiah. The game was very exciting and entertaining at the same time because it was a battle for the top spot.

Liverpool however got a major blow because Jurgen Klopp lost two key players due to injury concerns. Wataru Endo and Luis Diaz were all substituted after getting some injuries in the game. This is a blow because their services are still needed especially now that there are a lot of games.

The two teams all made it square at 1-1 and the two Managers were relieved with the performance. Arsenal will now go into the Christmas break while on top of the English Premier League table. Liverpool will remain second with only a point below Arsenal.
