The deputy President honorable Rigathi Gachagua gave a suggestion that the new administration will allow the citizens who live in forested areas will be allowed to do some farming in those areas. These sentiments were not taken well by Miguna Miguna.
He said that the deputy President must avoid by all means the kinds of roadside declarations that he is making. He added that farming in forests is a very bad idea. Netizens rushed online in order to comment on that.
Many people said that Miguna Miguna may be correct because the human activities in forests may be another catastrophy altogether. They said that this can damage the ecosystem and the country can face the longest drought that it has never faced before.
Some people also had other opinions and said that if the framing in forest is regulated, then it can be very productive and it can benefit the whole country. They even said that things like logging will stop because of the vigilance that the farmers will put in order to protect the forests so that they can continue farming.
Other people also said that the Shamba system is something that should be widely discussed with all the stakeholders present so that they can come up with the best solution for it.
According to them, it should be a win win situation for everybody so that other people or other areas in the country do not suffer because of the consequences and actions taken without consideration of the wider picture.
