There is a looming showdown between the government and the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance. This is after honorable Raila Odinga called for fresh protests on the Saba Saba day which is on Friday.
The government is not in support of the demonstrations and it is expected that security officers will be deployed in order to curb the demonstrations and deal with the protesters. This may also cause running battles between the security officers and the Azimio La Umoja supporters.
The leaders of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya had a press briefing and they issued a statement concerning the protests. Honorable Raila Odinga said that the coalition is embarking on some drastic actions against President William Ruto’s administration.
According to the Azimio La Umoja leader said that the President is imposing taxes on Kenyans without their consent and making laws whose net effect is to make life increasingly difficult.
He added that they called for the Press Statement because the taxation situation in the country and its accompanying injustices can no longer be tolerated. He added that th President has even removed subsidies on fuel, unga, electricity and even school fees while on the other hand, he has given subsidies to helicopter owners and he has also used the money to finance the lifestyle of his allies.
He added that they are determined to get the situation corrected and he announced that the Kamukunji meeting will be held on Friday at the Kamukunji grounds. He also added that it will not only be in Kamukunji alone but also in other parts of the country.
