Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal team had a beautiful Wednesday night football after the full time whistle despite the fact that the team played an awful game by just having one shot on target which was Bukayo Saka’s goal. They however managed to contain the stubborn Brighton & Hove Albion with the help of Gabriel Magalhaes and Pierro Hincapie who were very solid at the back.
Arsenal did not play a very entertaining football because in the past three seasons, they have been playing very entertaining football without anything tangible to show and brag about. If this season playing bad football will bring the results and the trophies, so be it for Mikel Arteta and his boys.
On the other hand, Manchester City saw bad things in the hands of Nottingham Forest. They got lost in the Forest despite going ahead. Antoine Semenyo opened the score line for them before Gibbs-White equalized in the second half. Manchester City again went ahead through Rodri but his celebration was short lived after Anderson equalized again.
The most painful part was the last kick of the game which was a great save and block on the line by Murillo. The draw at the Etihad Stadium has now handed Arsenal another major boost because the difference between the two clubs is now seven points.
Arsenal though has a game in hand but nowadays games in hand do not automatically convert to three points. The game in hand can be a win, draw or even a loss. It is better that Arsenal know that they have played one game ahead but won the game and collected all the three points.
As things stand now, the Premier League title is Arsenal’s to lose. The players have to win it come what; come may because they have never gotten this close by leading the line for this long.
