Arsenal met Everton in one of the toughest matches that Mikel Arteta played in the race for the Premier League title. The Arsenal manager named a very strong squad for the encounter but the players found a very difficult time in penetrating Everton’s defence.
The first half ended 0-0 and the David Moyes knew that he had contained Mikel Arteta and his players. Mikel Arteta substituted Jurrien Timber who was injured and replaced him with Christian Mosquera just before the end of the first half because he had some injury.
The second half started on a very high note and Mikel Arteta also substituted Kai Havertz with Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi with Max Dowman and Riccardo Calafiori with Pierro Hincapie.
Viktor Gyokeres scored the first goal for Arsenal with just a minute to the stoppage time. He was given the assist by Pierro Hincapie after getting a good cross from Max Dowman.
The 16 year old Max Dowman also scored the second goal with the last touch of the game. He scored a very brilliant goal after Jordan Pickford went forward to attack the corner kick that Everton got in the last minute of the game.
Viktor Gyokeres headed the ball away and Gabriel Martinelli further headed it away and Max Dowman took the opportunity and scored a spectacular solo goal. This was his first ever goal in the English Premier League.
He made history by becoming the youngest Premier League player to ever score with only 16 years of age and 73 days. The game ended 2-0 in favor of Arsenal and the Gooners collected all the three points that were necessary.
The win now means that Arsenal is in a sole position to clinch this season’s Premier League trophy. Mikel Arteta did a very wonderful job in making the substitutions because it is the substitutes who teamed up and won the game for Arsenal.
