A section of leaders from the Nyanza region which is the political bedroom of the opposition leader honorable Raila Odinga, have sent a stern warning to the former Prime Minister over the planned rallies that are scheduled to take place in the whole country.
The leaders who asked honorable Raila Odinga to call off the rallies included, politicians, religious leaders and the professionals from that region. They were led by honorable Fred Outa who is the former Senator of Kisumu county.
They issued their statement in a press conference in Nairobi. Honorable Fred Outa said that the opposition must stop the obsession that they can only ascend to power through violence, intimidation and blackmail. He added that the leaders championing for the rallies must be honest with each other and move forward as one nation.
“We must stop the obsession that we can only get into power through violence, intimidation and blackmail yet we call ourselves statesmen and democrats. We must be honest with each other and move forward as one nation, one people,” said honorable Fred Outa.
Honorable Betty Adera also spoke and said that they are asking the Azimio leaders to take the rallies to estates like, Karen, Runda and Muthaiga and not the areas where Kenyans are struggling to get their daily bread. She added that it is the women and the children who will bear the brunt of the rallies.
Honorable Odoyo Owidi also wondered why honorable Raila Odinga is still lamenting that his victory was stolen in the last general elections. He compared it to the FIFA World Cup and said that it is like France coming to claim that Argentina did not win the World Cup.
