Manchester United registered another dismal performance again after the 1-1 draw against Watford. The draw can be blamed on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s poor tactics and approach to the game. He did not treat the game with the importance that it deserved.
He must have probably thought that Everton was a weak side because of the absence of some of the key players like Richarlison, Calvert Lewin and Alex Iwobi. The available players however proved him wrong and they fought tooth and nail and got one point.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer left three key first team players on the bench. He did not start Cristiano Ronaldo who has been saving the club ever since he arrived, Jadon Sancho who has started improving and Paul Pogba who has been in a terrific form this season when played in his right and desired position.
The Manager instead used Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial and Fred. This messed up everything because the club did not utilize most of the chances that were created. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer then made some substitutions and brought in Cristiano Ronaldo in place of Edinson Cavani. He could have left the two players to play together because they are all goal threats.
Edinson Cavani did not perform well because he was not being supplied well with good passes and crosses. He also substituted Anhtony Martial and replaced him with Jadon Sancho, he actually tried his best but he did not help the team.
Jesse Lingard is always a super substitute and he could have helped the club in moving forward. He is a player who can not only score decisive goals but can also create chances for other players to score. He could have been the best replacement for Anhtony Martial.
Fred was also substituted and his place was taken by Paul Pogba. The French international player played deep in the midfield as opposed to a more advanced position that always gives him the opportunity to provide assists to other players.
