Bi. The new, completely equipped home that Sada has purchased for them has impressed Salama, but Sultana appears unimpressed as she sulkily leans against a pole. Salama is astonished and relieved that she no longer needs to use jerricans to transport water. Sada tries to assist Sultana sit down and asks if she’s missing JJ, but she doesn’t respond.

Major enters Datima’s room and discovers Ua weeping; he scolds her, and she cowers in the corner; he warns her never to touch Fatima again or he would skin her alive; and, finally, he locks her in the room as she screams helplessly.

Sada thanks Bi. Salama for the house, but she notices that she seems anxious. Bi. Salama confides in Sada that she is concerned about her daughter, Maria, and that she hasn’t heard from her in a while. Sada assures her that she will come and help her look for Maria as soon as she finishes seeing to it that Major gets JJ out of jail.

The memories of Major’s mistreatment of Sultana bring him to tears as he cries into his hip flask outside.

Bi. Salama pours Sultana a glass of milk and explains that the house is wonderful but that they must endure the heat. She then goes on to express her astonishment that Sultana was able to persuade the policemen to let her see JJ while Sada was denied access. After Ms. Salama’s anger boils over and she tells her to drink some milk and then take her medications, telling her she should be concentrating on her health, Sultana questions herself how anybody could go to sleep after bringing so much misery into another person’s life.

After Major wakes Fatima and offers her some pain medication and water, Fatima notes that he is acting coldly towards her and asks if there is a problem; nevertheless, Major assures her that he will not be returning to his room to discover her there. Major glares at Fatima, telling her he will do what he has said, and storms out of the room when she tries to persuade him that they were married and they should sleep in the same room. After promising to leave the room over Fatima’s dead body, Fatima falls back to sleep.

Bi. As Salama yells for Sultana, he locates her seated in the very back of the room.

Maria wakes up at a mansion, looks about, and settles in to watch TV; shortly thereafter, Dida arrives with a wheelchair-bound Buya, whom Maria rushes to embrace in horror.

Major returns from the basement and warns Asiya not to assume she is free to do as she pleases now that he has left the house. Asiya questions Major’s trust in her and asks why he treats Fatima like a saint while treating her like a slave, at which point Major tells her to shut up and never question his decisions. As Ua appears on the first floor, Major immediately orders Asiya to confine her.

Maria asks Buya how he’s doing, but he’s more concerned with how she’s doing. She explains that she’s been having a hard time since she got in jail for helping him, and that’s why she was considering returning to her hometown.

The fact that they don’t have to deal with anybody else hasn’t dimmed Bi. Salama’s enthusiasm for their new home. When Sultana explains that she doesn’t have to flee to find solace from her secrets, however, Bi. Salama is relieved. Salama is surprised that she didn’t like the new place despite her insistence on moving there. He mentions that Maria said she became even more anxious after hearing the news about Kokan. When the conversation shifts to Kokan, Sultana recalls that Ua once came to their house to ask about her child, but that, per usual, her mother lied to her.

Buya tells Maria that he would be ungrateful if he allowed her to return because she risked her life to save him without thinking him a burden. He also reminds Maria that she shouldn’t have left her family and begs her to give him the chance to protect her despite her condition.

Sultana tells her mother that she has ruined JJ’s life and shattered all of his goals, and that he was right to be upset because they don’t know the anguish of living with somebody for so long and then finding out they aren’t his parents. She inquired as to whether or not she was prepared to notify JJ’s parents that their son was in jail. As Sultana asks Bi. Salama if she feels any pity for JJ being locked away so that his secrets won’t be disclosed, a teary-eyed Bi. Salama admits that she never expected the two of them to be fighting again after granting her wish to relocate to a new location. As Major had harmed her earlier in their relationship, Sultana believes she did it all to get even with him.

Dida is asked by Buya what she thinks about JJ’s situation, but she replies that she is confident that JJ is completely trustworthy and wouldn’t hurt a fly. Maria then interjects, adding that she doesn’t believe JJ to be the saint they claimed him to be because he threatened them with a pistol.
