Buya claims that Dida was referring to Fatima when she expressed relief that the worst-case scenario had not come to pass after hearing what Maria had just informed them. Maria tells them she will never forget the wicked woman who constantly badgered her to find out where Buya was, but she never revealed any information to her. Sultana tells her mother that she knew from her reaction that she had committed the evil deed, and she asks her to pass the message to JJ if she won’t tell him herself. She also reminds her that her mother never gave her a straight answer about who her biological parents were, but she doesn’t want to be led in circles.
Asiya takes Ua’s hand and says that JJ was right when he said that Ua shouldn’t be locked up in one place for her health to improve; she apologizes for letting Ua live like a prisoner in her own house and tells her she has the right to do anything to her once she becomes sane, but she will no longer follow Major’s instructions.
While drinking, Fatima reflects on Major’s parting comments and realizes that she can no longer wait to be publicly acknowledged as Major’s second wife; instead, she must do so on her own and fight for her rights as Major’s second wife.
Maria makes fun of Buya for not looking as bad as he did in the ghetto; Buya laughs it off at first, but then he starts crying, which causes Dida to get all choked up and Maria to feel bad about herself. Buya says he’s worried about his condition because he can’t leave the house without his wheelchair. Dida tells him not to give up because the doctors haven’t issued their verdict, but Buya warns her not to put too much stock in it. He looks at Maria, asking whether she still wants to return, but Maria only sobs in response. Dida appears concerned that her father is spending more time with Maria.
Ua wanders the home and gazes at the water, attempting to devise a plan of action.
Sada wanders aimlessly, attempting to recall the directions Asiya gave her, and holding out hope that she is indeed in the estate she was advised to look for.
When Fatima arrives to the dining room and discovers there is no breakfast waiting for her, she yells for Asiya, who is watching over Ua, and begins berating her for being lazy and avoiding her responsibilities. Asiya tries to explain that she was busy keeping an eye on Ua to make sure she doesn’t get away, but Fatima grabs her by the collar and tells her that she is the boss and that everyone does what she says.
Dida goes outside to get some air, but Maria comes out to join her. Maria compliments the beautiful house and asks if it is their permanent residence; Dida explains that a friend of her father’s offered it to them for as long as they needed it, but that she doesn’t plan on staying there forever. She needs to find work to support herself and her father. Dida claims that her mother would have passed away if not for her father.
Fatima scolds her thug for not giving her a report and orders him to round up Maria before the day is out. Ua overhears them and wonders which girl they are talking about given that she was unable to rescue her own daughter, Sultana.
Sada searches for information regarding Major Jabali’s residence but has little luck and muses to herself that doing so will be challenging.
Ua, apprehensive about what she will do, approaches the open gate.
When Zuu cools his porridge for him, Babu recalls the days when he would go fishing, stop by a few houses to check on them as their leader, and hang around with his pals. Zuu gets up to leave, but Babu convinces her to sit down instead. Zuu takes this as an insult and tells him she has decided to leave the village because she no longer feels safe there and she is prepared to suffer wherever she is going, but that it will only be for a short while. He asks her if she thinks her decision is right, since it would hurt Mwanzele even more since he was still hurting after finding out Kaka wasn’t his son. Ua climbs over th
