Part 1 of a written update for the episode airing on SULTANA on January 16, 2023.
Bi. Salama tries to convince Sultana that it is not safe for her to be sick while she is pregnant, thus she wants to call Kokan for aid. Since she is afraid, she begs her mother not to abandon them. Maria insists on continuing in search of Kokan, despite her quick agreement to take medication; if her condition worsens, they can send her to the hospital, but Bai refuses to let that happen. Salama is concerned about her health and does not want her to take any medication at this time. When her mother leaves, she starts bawling like a newborn.
When Fatima says she wants breakfast in bed, Asiya gets up and walks away.
When JJ opens the cage door, he sees his mother sleeping inside; he picks up her doll and is reminded of the day Major promised to blow his brain out if he ever tried to liberate Ua. Out of frustration, he violently assaults the toy.
Bi. Salama dampens a cloth with cold water and presses it against Sultana’s body to bring down her temperature. Her daughter is hurting, and she doesn’t understand why Maria is taking so long to help.
Buya thanks Kaka for his kindness, but he feels he is becoming a burden and should get himself checked out at the hospital so as not to cause trouble for Kaka. Kaka agrees that it would be a good idea for him to go to the hospital, but he doesn’t have the money to do so. Kaka doesn’t like the idea, but he can’t help Buya financially, so Buya tells him not to worry about it while he checks with Dida to make sure his name is still on the insurance.
Asiya gathers her belongings and prepares to leave, but Fatima stops her, saying that she can’t remember whether Asiya’s uniform has been changed, and asking who gave her permission to dress modestly while at work. Asiya is unfazed; Fatima doesn’t owe her an explanation; Fatima raises her hand to slap Asiya, but Asiya grabs her wrist and warns her not to do so again Despite Fatima’s request that she return to make breakfast, she leaves without bothering to do so.
Buya begs Kaka to call Dida, as his health is deteriorating by the day, and he believes his hospitalized friends will be willing to help him out since he helped them sort some things out. Kaka might let Fatima know that he doesn’t think it’s a smart idea.
Maria runs into Major, who warns her to watch her back because the thugs in the ghetto are likely to hunt her down and kill her if she isn’t careful.
After learning that Kokan has told the entire town that Major provided the dowry money for Sultana, Major heads over to Kokan’s house to teach him a lesson. After discovering the door to be unlocked and calling out Kokan’s name, he steps inside and is instantly horrified by the sight of the pool of blood.

Babu is surprised when Asiya shows up at his house bearing fruit; he asks Major if he sent her. Asiya denies that Major sent her, saying instead that she chose to pay him a visit because it had been so long since they last spoke. She brings up the matter of Sultana and Kokan getting married, and she adds that ever since JJ and Sultana ended their relationship, Major has been relatively quiet in the village, which is a tremendous boon to Babu’s position as village elder. Asiya urges him to help the two of them get married, promising her entire support and his assistance with anything he might need. He tells her that he can appreciate her feelings toward the union.
On his way out, Major runs into a young man and asks if he has seen Kokan. The man says he has not, but that he was with Kokan the day before. Convinced that the young man must know what happened, Major sends him to find out.
Dida is worried that her mother doesn’t care that she and JJ have returned home because Fatima didn’t ask about them. She lets them know that she and Ua are home alone while her family is away. When JJ asks if she followed Asiya, she laughs sarcastically and says, “No.” Dida follows JJ as he checks on his mom.
Concerned villagers have gathered at Kokan’s home to find out where he is. Major interrogates them about their observations. As the other villagers look down in apparent fear, the young guy recounts the events of the previous day. Specifically, he says that JJ was the one involved in a brawl with Kokan.
Since both he and Asiya are adults, Babu refuses to be played for a fool for the sake of Asiya’s happiness. According to Asiya, this will be very helpful to Babu and the rest of the village. Because he already knows everything, Babu assures her he won’t give her wants only to keep her secret hidden. Asiya is anxious and breathes deeply as she asks Babu how he found out that she was participating in the baby swap at the hospital.
