Sada reminds Bi. Salama of how close they used to be, and how she has spent the entire time since she arrived trying to prove to her that she is the same Sada. However, all of her efforts have been in vain; Bi. Salama has refused to tell Sada anything about Sultana, despite multiple inquiries, and Sada has told her that she has no right to give away Sultana, despite being her stepmother, without first informing her relatives. Zuu walks out of the house holding her phone worriedly, and Bi. Salama asks her what’s up; Zuu explains that Kaka has phoned to go say their goodbyes to Babu, which surprises them; Zuu adds that it seems to be serious. From afar, Kokan makes an effort to eavesdrop.
Dida and JJ get into the car, but as soon as she sees a text from Kaka, she becomes irritated and demands that JJ pull over. When she starts being theatrical, JJ advises her to stop because they are all adults with their own problems to solve. She ignores his question about if they are still going where they were going since she is too busy checking her phone.
Since Babu seemed OK the day before, Kokan is persuaded that this is all part of Bi. Salama and Sada’s scheme to prevent him from paying dowry to Sultana. Zuu scolds him for being so pompous, but they still welcomed him after he barged into their home, so Kokan asks her to spare him the garbage since he wants the dowry money to go through. The result is that Bi. Salama is very perplexed. The women follow Kokan’s lead, and as they go, Sada asks him if he lost his mind in the fire, since Kokan is now betraying someone who once loved him like a brother. Kokan tells her, “It’s a fight between brothers,” and warns her not to mess with his business.
Maria responds to Buya’s request that she quit acting like a know-it-all so that they can get along by saying that Kaka had commitments he had to fulfill. Buya chimes in that her captors must be watching her every move, but Maria has decided that her survival is paramount. Maria peeks out of the door as they hear folks singing and chanting.
WRITTEN UPDATE FOR THE SULTANA EPISODE AIRING ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 4, 2023! PART 2
Kokan, followed by Bi. Salama, Sada, and Zuu, arrives at Babu’s, where he encounters Kaka emerging from the house. Despite Kokan’s repeated advocacy on the family’s behalf, Kokan maintains that they do not want the dowry payment to go through. He threatens to beat Kaka up, but Kaka silences him since, despite being a doctor, he yaps on like a ‘kamagera’ (conductor) and his brain is riddled with idiocy despite attending to school. Everyone walks in and is startled to see Babu in such a sorry situation. With a touch to his forehead, Bi. Salama and the others leave, her heart devastated.
She inquires as to what transpired, prompting Kaka to provide an explanation. Since Sadaf had never heard of a boat capsizing and covering the fisherman, she is skeptical; yet, when Kokan asks them not to make a big issue out of it because it is his day, Sadaf and the others are appalled by his insensitivity. As Babu starts to say anything, Kokan na ujinga wake enters and tells Babu that he wants to pay the dowry for Sultana but needs his permission. Sada interrupts him, saying that it is not appropriate to discuss the dowry at this time. All eyes are on Mwanzele as he enters the room.
When Sultana opens the door to find presents waiting for her, she reflects on how Kokan treats her like a toy even though their relationship is a matter of life and death. She uses her braille to savagely pound on one of the containers.
When Mwanzele inquires as to whether or not he can be of use, Zuu rolls her eyes and informs them that he is merely intoxicated and unable to provide any assistance because he is a useless man. When she begins to be rude to her husband, Sada intervenes and gives him the chance to offer his assistance. Mwanzele offers to help them by giving them some money so that they may take a tuk-tuk to the hospital, but Babu says he would rather die than rely on him.
Maria peeks, Kaka scolds the women to stop making noise, and Sada asks them to go because Kokan isn’t there and they have a sick patient they don’t want disturbed. Because Kokan hasn’t paid the women yet, Sada gets a good chuckle at their expense before asking how much they make per day singing. She says Kokan wasn’t there and orders the women out. To herself, she wonders where Kokan obtained the money, dismissing the possibility that Major provided it because she recalls that he once threatened to beat Kokan up.
