Arsenal hosted Aston Villa at the Emirates stadium in their fifth game of the English Premier League. Mikel Arteta named a very strong squad for that encounter as well as Steven Gerrard. The first half started on a very high note and it was evident that all the two teams needed a win in that game.
The Gunners tried their best and they had a couple of chances that could have been converted but the defenders of Aston Villa were on high alert. The club finally got a leeway after Gabriel Jesus scored the first goal. This lasted until the end of the first half. The two teams went for the first half break when the score line was 1-0 in favor of the Gunners.
The second half started on a very high note and it was very evident that the Aston Villa players improved their game a lot as compared to how they were playing in the first half. Steven Gerrard made some two quick successive changes that changed the game.
He substituted Emiliano Buendia and replaced him with Philippe Coutinho and he also replaced John McGinn with Douglas Luiz. The two players changed the narrative of the game and Douglas Luiz managed to equalize the goal for Aston Villa.
This goal made the game to change a lot and Bukayo Saka gave Gabriel Martinelli a good pass that led to the second goal for the Gunners. This is the goal that stood out and they defended it very well.
Steven Gerrard also introduced Danny Ings to replace Boubacar Kamara in order to add more power in the attack. Mikel Arteta made a total of four changes, he substituted Ben White and replaced him with Takehiro Tomiyasu, Marti Odegaard with Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka with Rob Holding and Gabriel Jesus with Edward Nketiah.
The game ended 2-1 in favor of Arsenal and this has now extended the 100% win record this season. The club is still in position one with a total of 15 points.
