The famous Nollywood actress Ini Edo has spoken up about why she is currently still unmarried despite the fact that she has attained the age of marriage.
The gifted actress spoke out about her love life in a recent edition of her podcast, Tokemoment, when she spoke with media personality Toke Makinwa.
The 41-year-old actress shared details about her life’s journey, revealing that she was previously married to Edo businessman Philip Ehiagwina in 2008. She went on to say that their marriage was turbulent and terminated in 2014.
During the deeply moving discussion, Ini Edo revealed her deep need for a love that is authentic and built on mutual regard.
She stressed the significance of having a companion who could treat her well and respect her.
My desire for a genuine love partner is the sole reason I am currently alone. If you can’t provide the nurturing energy that makes you worthy of my respect, we can’t be in a poisonous or rather toxic relationship. Ini Edo explained on the show that she would never be with a man who doesn’t respect her.
The talented actress continued by saying how important respect is in a relationship:
Our relationship will end if you are unable to gain my respect. What’s the use? No matter how bad things become, the key is to be kind to yourself and the people around you; if you let a man trash you, it’s a sign that you’ve lowered yourself to the point that I start to speak back at you and disrespect you.
No one has the authority to tell another person how to live their life, she said, addressing the people who judge or shame others based on their bodies.
She says that women should ignore outside influences and be sure of themselves when making decisions.
Reflecting on her personal struggles with societal views of her appearance, Ini Edo emphasized the need of people learning to ignore criticism and take charge of their own life.
