The Civil servants have been dealt with a major blow after the Cabinet Secretary of Public Service, honorable Moses Kuria said that he is planning to do away with and abolish the permanent recruitment of civil servants.
Honorable Moses Kuria said that the main aim of the move is to reduce the burden that is given to the taxpayers by reducing the wage bill of the country.
According to his argument, one million public servants always consume 50% of the Tax revenue that is collected and then the country is left to survive on the remaining 50%.
He even said that he will present that proposal this Friday and if it will be adopted by the Cabinet, then there will no longer be anybody who will be employed on permanent basis.
“This week on Friday, I will be moving to the Cabinet to present a proposal which if Cabinet approves, all government workers from drivers to cleaners to everyone would be converted to contract. There is no one going to be employed on permanent basis anymore.” Moses Kuria sad.
He further went ahead and said that anybody who wants to be employed on a permanent basis should go ahead and tell him if even our tenure on earth is permanent. He further stated that everybody is on contract on this earth.
He further said that all the dues of the striking doctors should be suspended because they have been going on strike instead of working. He gave those directives and said that he is the Minister who is in charge of payroll.
