Big Blow to Kenyan Parents as School Fees is Expected to Rise Up in 2023 With This Margin

The Kenyan government has announced a significant increase in the school tuition fee that will be payable in this new year 2023. This will have a devastating impact on parents living in affluent areas of the country and the region since majority of them are still suffering from the effects of the high cost of living that is in the country.

The Kenyan government has stated through the Ministry of Education that tuition for secondary school students will be going up beginning with the 2023 school year, just in time for the eagerly anticipated resumption of schools on January 23.

The Kenyan government has indicated that the Ksh 8,500 cost that was eliminated from the fees structure of residential schools in the wake of the COVID 19 in 2020 will be reinstated for the 2023 academic year, contributing to the expected increase in school fees for secondary schools.

According to a recently published circular by the Ministry of Education, the estimated cost of tuition fees for the 2023–2024 school year at the National schools within Kenya’s boundaries is Ksh 53,554 per student. As compared to the current value of Ksh 45,054, this represents a huge rise in the school fees.

This is indeed a huge blow to the parents because they will have to dig deep into their pockets so that they can finance the Education of their children. They will have to do extra jobs for them to finance the school fees.
