The Cabinet Secretary of Defense, honorable Aden Duale has defended CDF Francis Ogolla’s presence at the Bomas of Kenya during the tallying of the 2022 general elections results.
He said that General Francis Ogolla was very close to him particularly when he was the Vice Chief of Defense Forces. He said that the when the whole saga of the Bomas of Kenya started going round and was hanging on his head and even made him to lose weight because the whole matter was disturbing him.
CS Aden Duale confirmed to President William Ruto that General Francis Ogolla was not there as the Vice Chief of Defense Forces and he was not a member of the National Security Committee which is Chaired by the Head of the Public Service.
He further said that General Francis Ogolla showed him messages which were sent to him by Senior People in the government to go and represent them at the Bomas of Kenya. He said that General Ogolla was given directions with other leaders and being a responsible General, he sent text messages to his bosses and asked them what he was going to do there at Bomas of Kenya.
He was told that it has been decided that he should go. He went as instructed and the then Chairman of the IEBC, kept them for 5 hours. The 411 came when General Francis Ogolla was still at the Bomas of Kenya and it was announced that the results will be announced at 3pm.
CS Aden Duale said that, General Francis Ogolla again sent a text message to his bosses and asked, that now that the results will be announced at 3pm, what was he still doing there at the Bomas of Kenya as a General. He was told to stay there with his colleagues.
CS Aden Duale said that the messages are there and General Francis Ogolla was not involved in anything bad at the Bomas of Kenya. This now clears the air that General Francis Ogolla was indeed innocent from all the accusations that were put against him.
He was indeed eulogized as a good man who had his own principles and he also helped a lot of people in the country without seeking for publicity.
